Married for seven years, Anne Gilchrist tells how her husband moved another woman, "a strumpet by the name of Minta Suits," into a house on their plantation for illicit purposes. James D. Gilchrist is "seized and possessed of a large estate," Anne testifies, including a seven- or eight-hundred-acre plantation worth about seven thousand dollars and seven slaves worth at least four thousand dollars. She seeks a divorce, a writ of injunction to prohibit James from selling his property, alimony, and a subpoena requiring him to appear in court.
