Murdock White is a farmer and owner of ten slaves between the ages of sixteen and fifty. He claims that he can be of better service to the county as a private citizen than to the army. He is a member of the "Executive Committee" of the county in charge of helping the families of the soldiers. He has donated a saw mill to the army as well. He asserts that because of his meritorious service in the community that he should not have to join the army.
