Copeland and Benjamin Stiles, minor sons of Benjamin Stiles Jr., petition for a writ of partition of their father's estate, which contains large tracts of land and sixty-nine slaves. Stiles's will directs that the estate, with the exception of some specific bequests, be divided equally among his widow and four children. The petitioners also ask the court to allow a sale of the property if it is necessary.
