Stephen Boineau, guardian of the four orphaned children of Bernard and Esther Taylor, seeks permission to sell two slaves owned by his wards. The slaves comprise "all the property possessed by the said minors," but the income derived from their labor is "entirely insufficient" to support the four children. Boineau informs the court that he has incurred "many debts" for their "necessary maintenance" and asks to sell the slaves to "pay & satisfy the aforesaid demands against the minors."
