Petition #21382534

Abstract

Siblings Willis Brown and Caroline Brown Golding join Caroline's husband, Anthony Golding, in seeking a revised accounting from their brother, John G. Brown, of the estates of their late parents, Jacob and Christian Brown. Upon the death of Jacob Brown in 1805, his wife administered his estate, valued at eleven thousand dollars and consisting of about thirty slaves. The petitioners allege several irregularities in her administration, including the application of property to her own use. The widow married Samuel Farrow soon after the death of her first husband. Upon her death in 1815, John Brown executed her will, and the petitioners also charge him with irregularities. The petitioners ask that the said John Brown render an account of the estates of both Jacob Brown and Christian Brown Farrow; that the sale of their late mother's slaves be set aside; and that an equitable distribution of both estates be made.
