Asa Hiram Stewart seeks a court order to prohibit Loami Brown from removing certain slaves beyond the jurisdiction of the court. Stewart claims that his father, Robert Stewart, made to him a "parole gift by manual delivery" of a slave woman named Jeny. The slave later "came into the possession of" Loami Brown and has since given birth to five children. Stewart has employed "legal gentlemen" to prosecute his claim "by an action at Law," which has caused Brown to conceal "said negroes with a view of Sending them out of the State to defeat your orators claim." Stewart seeks the court's intervention in protecting his slave property.
