Landon Miles, the guardian of minors Elizabeth, Sarah, Jane, and Polly Martindale, seeks permission to pay the "demands" of the girls' maternal aunt, Polly Miles, with whom the girls live. He explains that the girls have "a small property of perhaps from 6 to 800 dollars and a negro girl and two small negro children." Their aunt agreed to "board lodge, wash for, and clothe the said children (except their shoes)" for $120 and the "use of the negro girl." Miles has extended this agreement for another year but has offered Polly an additional $75 as compensation. He informs the court that these charges are "very low" and asks the court to authorize their payment out of the children's estate.
