Eighteen-year-old Samuel Riley and William E. Bailey seek Bailey's appointment as Riley's guardian. Riley's mother recently offered "to deliver to him certain slaves, derived from the estate of John Morgandollar," her father. Riley wants to accept the slaves, but is still underage. Since his father is dead, Riley has asked his brother-in-law, William Bailey, to be his guardian, and Bailey has accepted. The two together ask the court to appoint Bailey as guardian "with all the powers & authorities incident to such appointment."
