Petition #21383516

Abstract

Five children of Francis Marion Jr. seek their shares of his estate. The petitioners report that their father died intestate in 1826, while they were minors. His estate includes 2,547 acres of land and 180 slaves. Sixty-six slaves "are to be immediately sold by permission of the ordinary of the said District for payment of the debts of the said Estate and which will be amply sufficient for the payment of all of the said debts." The petitioners assert that Robert Burdell and Maria Marion, the court-appointed administrators, will not account for their handling of the estate, nor will they divide it among the heirs. The petitioners ask the court to order the administrators to present their accounts and to issue a writ of partition.

Result: Granted.
