Petition #21383628

Abstract

William and Jane Taylor Yates ask the court to order a partition of property belonging to Jane's late husband, John Chesnut Taylor, between them and Jane's minor daughter, Sally Chesnut Taylor. The Yateses explain that, when they married in 1835, they placed Jane's "undivided interest in the estate real and personal of the said John Chesnut Taylor" in a trust estate administered by Andrew Wallace. Because Sally Taylor is "of very tender years viz of the age of about seven years," they need the court's sanction to partition the property. The trust contains several tracts of land and at least sixty slaves. They also ask Andrew Wallace, who serves as administrator of John Taylor's estate, to "account before the Commissioner of this Court for his actings and doings as administrator."
