Petition #21383629

Abstract

Martha M. Watson joins her husband, Richardson W. Watson, in seeking a partition of the estate belonging to her former husband, the late John Vinson. Vinson died in 1832, survived by Martha and four minor children. Vinson owned property both separately and in conjunction with Andrew P. Vinson, who administered Vinson's estate. Their joint property included twenty-eight slaves, while John Vinson owned seven slaves absolutely. Martha has recently married Watson, and the couple is anxious to have a partition made of the property. Because the heirs are minors, the couple seeks the court's permission to divide the property. They assert that Vinson's lands "cannot be advantageously divided," so they ask the court to order their sale.

Result: Granted.
