Petition #21383801

Abstract

Seventeen-year-old Jane Rainey Crosson and fourteen-year-old Lavinia Caroline Crosson ask that "their Uncle Alexander Dickey who was brother to their deceased mother, and who lives in this State and with whom your Petitioners now reside, may be appointed Guardian of their persons and estates respectively." The Crossons assert that they are entitled, under the will of the late Hugh Crosson, "to an equal share with a younger brother and sister, of the estate of their deceased Father, consisting of lands and negroes and other personalty." The commissioner's report reveals "that the gross amount of the Estates of the petitioners is about seven hundred & thirty dollars each."
