Petition #21384539

Abstract

Lionel Boyle sues the executors of his father's estate. He states that his father, John Boyle, died about 1827, leaving three children and "a large and valuable plantation with a large gang of negroes." Executors Thomas Boone and Josiah Taylor took possession of the property. From 1827 to March 1834, Boone filed "certain accounts," then he stopped. Boyle repeatedly charges that, if the estate "had been managed with proper care and attention," it would have generated enough income to pay the "small amount" of debt owed by his father. The executors, however, neglected the estate so badly that they had to sell many of the slaves. Boyle argues "that all the injury and loss to which he has been put and suffered, are occasioned by the said neglect and improper management of the said Josiah Taylor, and Thomas W Boone ... and that they, or one of them, is bound to repair and make good the same." Seeking a full account of the estate property and of the executors' actions, Boyle asks the court to compel Boone and Taylor "to account for all losses, damages, and injuries."
