Petition #21384643

Abstract

Mary F. Watts, "an infant in Law" suing by her next friend, Henry Summer, claims that she is entitled to a “considerable Estate,” which is in the hands of her guardian, Benjamin Paysinger. The estate supposedly consists of $2,000 to $3,000. Mary has been married for two years to John T. Watts, a man with no means of support, no land, and no house. Mary is desirous that her estate be settled to her sole and separate use and invested "in a suitable tract of Land whereon she and her husband can reside and that the balance of the fund be vested in suitable Negro property so as to enable her to make a support for her self and family." She therefore prays that Paysinger be directed to account for the property in his hands and to turn it over to a court-appointed trustee, who will invest it appropriately. She also prays that her husband be restrained from collecting the funds.
