Petition #21384926

Abstract

W. W. Harris asks that he be appointed the guardian of his four minor grandchildren. Harris represents that his daughter and his son-in-law have both died, "leaving four children ... all of whom are now minors under the age of Twelve years." The petitioner asserts that he "Settled an Estate on the Said minors of considerable amount consisting of a tract of land worth about two thousand Dollars." In addition, Harris submits that their father "settled on them certain negroes with their increase amounting to twelve in number." Noting that "Said Minors are without any guardian or other person legally authorized to Represent them," the petitioner prays "that the appointment of guardian may be confered upon him."
