Abstract

"The petition of John Pinckny Boozer sheweth that he has been appointed by this Honorable Court, the guardian of the person and estate of his sister in Law Permelia A Paysinger, a minor of about eighteen years old; That at the sale of her fathers estate, your petitioner, at her request, purchased for her a negro girl named Mary Jane, about eleven or twelve years old, at the price of six hundred and five dollars, on a credit of one and two years with interest from the 10 Jany 1854; That the said girl was raised by the said Permelia A whose estate amounts to about $3500-- in money and your petitioner therefore thinks that the purchase of the said girl for his ward a proper investment of so much of her funds and desires that it may be confirmed by this Honorable Court Wherefore your petitioner prays that the purchase of the girl Mary Jane for the said Permelia A Paysinger may be confirmed by this Honorable Court and the title vested to her And your petitioner will ever pray" [Transcript of Petition]
