William S. Sharp, the brother of the late Lucy Sharp, petitions the court for the partition or sale of two slaves. William Welch died in 1853 leaving the said Lucy three slaves: Tom, Phebe, and Emma; Phebe died between 1853 and 1855. The petitioner states that his sister died 1855 and that he and his sister, Jane Melvina Sharp, a minor, are "jointly entitled to the said slaves." He therefore requests the division or sale of the two slaves.
