Petition #21385859

Abstract

The heirs of the late Jane Clary request the partition of slaves. They inform the court that Jane's father, William Chalmers, died leaving one sixth of his estate to Jane for “her life and after her death to her issue." Jane received two slaves from Chalmers's estate; since that time, the slaves have increased to seven. The said Jane died in 1858, leaving children from two different marriages as her heirs. The petitioners ask the court for a partition of the slaves. They further request that James Clary, a minor, be summoned to court to answer the bill.
