Petition #21385960

Abstract

Appearing with her next friend Simon Pratt, orphan Pauline Wilson asks the court to partition the estate of her late parents, D. L. and Hannah B. Wilson. In 1854 D. L. and Hannah B. Wilson placed a female slave named Celia and her daughter Mary in trust for their own benefit and for the benefit of their heirs. The petitioner's parents have since died, and Celia now has three children. The petitioner states that she and her siblings are now orphans "with very little besides these negroes to support them." She argues that it is in their best interest "to have the said negroes sold for partition." Pauline Wilson asks the court to partition the slaves among the heirs of D. L. and Hannah B. Wilson.
