Lewis Bryan seeks to recover two slaves from Charles T. Minors, the executor of the estate of William W. Bryan. The petitioner informs the court that William Bryan hired two of his slaves named Moses and Tom from 1858 until 1860, paying him $480 for the two-year period. He charges that Charles Minors took possession of said slaves upon Bryan's death in November 1859 and claimed them as part of Bryan's estate. The petitioner has appealed to Minors to return Moses and Tom, insisting that he is "much attached to them," but the defendant has refused his requests. Lewis S. Bryan therefore pray that Charles T. Minors be ordered to return said slaves to him and to account for their hires since the death of William W. Bryan.
