- Jefferson County, Texas. November 10, 1845. - circa May 1849.
- Court: District
- Salutation: To the Honorable the Judge of the Sixth Judicial District presiding in and for said County
Abstract
Robert Burrell reports that he "casually lost" the slaves Mary, alias Polly, and Margaret. Burrell claims that James B. Langham came into their possession "by finding" and refuses to return them. He charges that Langham "fraudulently & wrongfully converted the said negroes to his own use, all to the damage of your petitioner two thousand dollars." He asks that Langham be summoned and ordered to return the slaves to him. He also seeks compensation for their hire, which he estimates at fifteen dollars per month for Mary and five dollars per month for Margaret.
Result: Dismissed.
