Abstract
Jack Noguess asks that John H. Hutchings and John Sealy return Easter, a female slave about forty-five years old. Charging that he alone is entitled to her "management and controll," Noguess avers that Easter is "a Slave for life and of great value towit of the value of seven hundred dollars which said Negro woman the said John H. Hutchings and John Sealy Defendants unjustly detain from him your petitioner." The petitioner prays that Easter be delivered to him and that he be paid $1000 for damages and court costs.
