Abstract
In 1771, Simon Harris "devised to his wife all his Land & negros & all his personal estate be of what nature or kind soever during her natural life or widowhood." Following Harris's death, Rebecca Harris, his widow, remarried. Now Harris's children ask for a division of their father's property, including slaves. In her Answer, Rebecca asserts that "she is Still intitled to her dower in thirds in the Lands of the testator."
