In 1785, William Starke Jett, executor of the estate of the late Richard Bernard, employed Martin Fisher to "over look" the estate's plantation and slaves and to "make crops of corn Tobacco & wheat." When, as early as August, the overseer requested additional corn to feed the slaves and livestock, Jett dismissed him, and made a deduction from his wages. Seeking to obtain a stay in a judgment secured against him by Fisher, Jett asks that the chancery court take up the matter.
Result: Dissolved.
