Petition #21679307

Abstract

William Price, eldest son by Pugh Price's first marriage, tells the court that his late father married three times. He reports that his father bequeathed "four hundred Acres of Land ... one Negroe boy named Doctor, one Feather Bed and Furniture and one young horse" to Daniel Price, his son by a third marriage. Following Daniel's death, the petitioner cites that Charles Price, the administrator of Daniel's estate, "possessed himself of the Slaves and personall Estate of the said Daniel Price decd. & upon application, refuses to distribute to your Orator his Legal share thereof on pretence of his being of Kindred to the Intestate by the half Blood only, and the other Defendants refuse to allow your Orator his due Share of the Land of the said Daniel Price decd. because of his Relationship to the said Decedent by the half Blood as aforesaid and not by the whole Blood." Asking that all the descendants of the late Pugh Price be made defendants to his bill and be summoned to answer his charges, William Price prays that he receive his rightful share of the estate of Daniel Price, "both real and personal."
