Petition #21680605

Abstract

Philip King claims that the late Josiah Boykin "never paid your orator for his services" as overseer for the years 1801 and 1802. He asserts that Boykin promised him £40 for the first year and "proposed allowing your orator a share in the crop for the second year." King charges, however, that Boykin "took the whole crop and applied it to his own use." Informing the court that Boykin died "in possession of a large personal estate," the petitioner prays that "the said William Boykin out of the estate of Josiah Boykin which came to his hands pay to your orator the aforesaid sum of forty pounds per year for two years with legal interest thereon."
