Thomas and Mary Black Williams are "desirous to have the portion which they are entitled to ... of the sd. James Blacks estate." They point out that James Black, Mary's father, "departed this life possessed of 100 acres of Land or thereabouts and some personal estate consisting of one negro man named Sam." The Williams therefore pray that the court will "order & decree a sale & division of the proceeds thereof ... it being impossible to divide the personal estate equally among them & the Defts ... share & share alike."
