Petition #21681723

Abstract

James Harrison asserts that he "ingaged in the business of overseering for a certain John Robinson" and "the place at which he superintended was situate upon the Blue Ridge Mountain, the land was in a very unimproved situation intirely destitute of houses and not inclosed." Since "the number of hands was to be varied," Harrison relates that Robinson "promised to give him liberal wages, to be paid out of the crops," whereupon Harrison reports that he "continued with said Robinson three years, and discharged his duties to the great satisfaction of the said Robinson." Harrison concedes that he agreed that Robinson could "take up a bond which your Orator owed" as partial payment for his wages. However, the petitioner points out that the two men later disagreed over compensation. Noting that Robinson obtained a court judgment and "hath caused one Execution to be issued," the petitioner prays "that a full and final settlement of their accounts may take place and that your Worships will cause the sd. Execution to be stayed."
