Petition #21683921

Abstract

Gregory and Lucinda Watson Wilson seek to sell "a certain negro slave Adam whom Gregory jointly owns, by right of Lucinda, with the other heirs of the late William Watson. The heirs include Narcissus and Mary Watson, who are under the age of twenty one, and Francis Staples, the widower of the late Anna Watson. Gregory and Lucinda represent that "the parties owning said slave are anxious to sell the same and divide the proceeds of such sale." Noting that two of the tenants in common are "infants" and without a guardian, the Wilsons request that the court appoint a "guardian ad litem to the infants Narcissus & Mary Watson" and that "the court authorize a commissioner to dispose of the aforesaid slave and pay the proceeds of sale to the parties claiming the same."
