Rebecca Elliott, a free person of color, avers that in 1829, her brother borrowed two hundred dollars from Robert Dunn to purchase a house in Pocahontas, a section of Petersburg near the railroad depot. Later, when the said Henry was unable to pay, Rebecca transferred the debt to James Talley. At the time, Rebecca's mother lived in the house. Noting that her mother, her brother Henry and the creditor have died, Rebecca prays to sell the house. She plans to pay off the debt and divide the money left over among heirs, who are siblings and nephews. Five years later, Rebecca's nephews, Albert and Richard Elliott, revived the bill. They state that Rebecca and several other family members have died since the original bill was filed. They again pray that a commissioner be appointed to sell property in Petersburg; in addition, they pray that the same commissioner sell the property of their late uncle, Thomas Major.
