Petition #21684723

Abstract

Twenty-one-year-old Charles J. Sykes informs the court that he and his brother James "are jointly entitled to six negroes which they heired from their father James Sykes." The petitioner admits that he "is anxious to have his part of the slaves, but he can not obtain such division without the interposition of this court on account of the infancy of his brother." The petitioner therefore prays that the court appoint a representative for his brother and direct a division of Annice, Ben, Anneliza, Hannah, Margarett, and Cippio.
