The legal representatives of the estate of the late William Edwards ask the court for permission to sell twelve slaves and divide the proceeds. They represent that by his will the said Edwards bequeathed his slaves to his only child Elizabeth, as a life estate. They report that "the said Elizabeth Williams some short time since died without leaving any child or without ever having had one." They therefore pray "that your worship will grant them a decree for the sale of said slaves by a proper comr of court, and a just and equal distribution of the proceeds of sale among your complainants and the said defendant [Mary] Camp."
