Petition #20684801
- Elbert County, Georgia. cicra 1848. - September 16, 1854.
- Court: Superior
- Salutation: To the Honorable Nathan C. Sayre Judge of the Superior Courts of said State, and presiding in Elbert County, and exercising Chancery Jurisdiction therein
Abstract
James Tate, as guardian of Martha Middleton, minor heir of James Middleton, is entitled to one-half of the estate of James Middleton in right of his ward. He avers that Thomas Heard and Dunston Verdell, administrators of the estate, have taken four slaves and several promissory notes into their possession and converted them to their own use, rather than reporting them as part of the estate. Tate asks the court to order Heard and Verdell to make a fair and accurate accounting of the assets of the estate, and to settle it accordingly.
