Deed of Gift. In this document plus NC.DAI.12.289.1, Elizabeth Gossett of Guilford County NC gives two fourteen-year-old enslaved children to her daughter Susannah Gossett Aydlotte of Davidson County. In 12.289.1 she gives “…a Certain negro slave named Grace about fourteen years of age…” and in 12.289.2 she gives “…a certain negro Slave named Mingo about fourteen years of age…”. Both documents were signed September 8, 1843, presented in the Davidson County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions in August 1850, and registered September 27, 1850.
