By a deed from William Steuart to David Steuart of George Town in the District of Columbia, bearing the date 21 December 1810, David Steuart was authorized to dispose of the following property, which "was advertised for sale as per the intent of the deed." Clement Smith was the highest bidder and for $431.97 bought the following: five chaffing dishes, two china bowls, six glass coolers, one sofa, two knife cases, one washstand, six chairs, two bedsteads, one passage lamp, one cow, a Negro man named Willard, a Negro man named James, and a Negro woman named Priss.
