Manumission recorded on 17 January 1812. "Know all men by these presents that I, David Watterston of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia for divers good causes and considerations to me hereunto moving, and also in further consideration of $1.00, has released from slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free my Negro woman named Rachel Ebbs being of the age of 45 years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood, and I do declare her to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude."
