Bill of sale was recorded on 17 March 1818. James Harper, for $50, paid by two promissory notes at 6 and 12 months, sells to William Mazingo a Negro woman named Charity for a term of five years, beginning 27 July 1816. This " being the time that James Harper purchased Charity from Matthias Snyder for the sum of $50." It is also agreed that Charity will not be sold out of the District of Columbia, and that after five years she is to be returned by William Mazingo to Matthias Snyder of the town of Alexandria in the District of Columbia. Signed at Alexandria on 21 February 1818 by James Harper.
