Abstract

Manumission was recorded on 12 August 1818. Richard H. Johns of George Town in the District of Columbia states that for divers good causes and considerations and also in consideration of $200, he releases from slavery a Negro woman named Eleanor, the daughter of David and Charlotte Ferguson, who is under the age of 45 and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance for herself; she is to be henceforth free. Signed on 29 June 1818 by Richard H. Johns.
