Abstract

Manumission was recorded on 4 November 1818. Overton Carr of Washington Co., District of Columbia, for divers good causes and considerations and in further consideration of $1.00 paid by Nancy Beall, frees a Negro girl named Mary Carroll age 7, who is able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood; she is to be henceforth free. Mary is freed with the condition that she will serve her grandmother, Nancy Beall, for a term of9 years from this date. Signed on 4 November 1818 by Overton Carr.
