Abstract

Bill of sale was recorded on 15 November 1820. Timothy N. Vail [Vaile] of George Town in the District of Columbia, for $950, sells to Ozias Whedon of Gilford in New Haven Co., Connecticut, a Negro boy slave named Allen supposed to be about 13 years. The condition of the sale is such that if Timothy N. Vail pays to Ozia Whedon the amount of three notes given this day: one for $250 payable within one year with interest; a second for $300 payable in two years with interest; and a third for $400 payable within three years with interest, which amounts to $950 with interest, then this bill of sale will be considered cancelled. However, if he fails to pay, then Ozias Whedon has the power to sell Allen at public auction. Signed on 26 October 1820 by T. N. Vaile
