Abstract

At the request of Negro Peter the manumission was recorded on 24 October 1801. Thomas Corcoran of George Town in Washington Co., District of Columbia "in consideration of the faithful services of Negro Peter about 45 years of age being healthy and well, better known by the name of Belts Peter, and for the further consideration of five shillings to me in hand paid by said Negro Peter. ..by these presents [I] do liberate and discharge as a free man...
