Bill of sale was recorded on 19 October 1802. Nathaniel Brashears of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia and James Willson traded under the firm Brashears and Willson. Both "owe and stand justly indebted to Robert Cherry in the sum of $205.04." In addition, Nathaniel Brashears in a separate account stands justly indebted to Robert Cherry for $21.55. Nathaniel Brashears "being desirous to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute" this document and sells to Robert Cherry a Negro man named Patrick. If Nathaniel Brashears does not pay the above sums with legal interest on or before 18 April 1803 the sale becomes final.
