Abstract

Bill of sale was recorded on 13 February 1804. Georgetown: 25 January 1804- Stephen B. Balch sells a Negro boy named Mathew Louder to George Helland Gloyd for a valuable consideration [no amount mentioned] , " for 12 years from the date of this instrument and Mathew Louder is to be free after that time." If George H. Gloyd sells Mathew Louder, "he is to have an Instrument drawn and recorded binding the purchaser to liberate him at the expira­ tion of the said term of years commencing from the date of this Instrument." Both Balch and Gloyd signed the document.
