Manumission was recorded on 23 July 1805. Charles Bastain of Georgetown in the District of Columbia purchased a Negro boy named Will from John Threlkeld for $150 with the promise of setting Will free, which was to have taken place 1 February 1804. Now for a consid eration of $1 paid by Will and for other good reasons, Charles Bastain sets Will free. Will is about 23 years old, 5'5" tall and of a yellowish complexion. He is lame on his right side; "has had his thigh broke." Manumission was signed on 22 July 1805.
