Manumission was recorded on 13 August 1806. Augustus Thomas, a free Blackman, sets free "my wife and female slave named Patty now age about 29 years together with her children: Maria about ten years, Charles about seven years, Nancy about five years, Susan about five weeks and their increase ... " He also releases a quit claim to all property or estate Patty "may acquire subsequently to the date hereof, other than such as by law of the land I may legally possess as the husband of the said Patty bound in ties of holy matrimony." Augustus Thomas signs the manumission on 12 August 1806 with an "X."
