Deed was recorded on 15 October 1821. Richard Parrot of George Town in the District of Columbia is justly indebted to Clement Smith in "divers considerable sums of money advanced and notes due ... " amounts total $2,500. Richard Parrot is desirous to secure the ultimate payments of this amount with interest and now for $20 sells in trust to Clement Smith all of the following property: [a very detail list--1 1/2 pages--of household items not abstracted], which includes books, maps, silver, a plow, a light wagon, a cart, 2 work horses, 4 cows, about 30 barrels of com, and "also the following servants: Young Davy, Old Davy, Isaac, two boys Oliver and Allen, Margaret and Phillis, Jacob, Stephen, Damon, a spinning wheel, tools, a chariot, 2 bay carriage horses, a road horse .... " If the amount owing is paid, then this deed will be void, if not, then after a IO day notice in a George Town newspaper the property may be sold at public sale to the highest bidder.
