NC.BER.HH.283.1 Deed Gift. Mary E. Thompson gives “negro slave girl Rebecca” to her niece Mary E. Thompson, daughter of Noah Thompson, in “consideration of the natural love and affection.” NC.BER.HH.282.1, 283.1, 283.2, 284.1 and 287.1 all involve transfer of title to enslaved people, from Mary E. Thompson to various relatives. Conditions are slightly different for each. No details on Rebecca’s relationships in this document, but see the other documents in this series, since all of the enslaved came from and probably ended up in the same place, under the control of Noah and Sally Eliza Thompson. Signed November 27, 1848, presented in Court May 1849.
