Summary

Bill of Sale, Sheriff’s Sale. A.H. Hassell, Sheriff of Bertie County, sold “negro man named Blount, aged about 40 years…under execution against Joseph B. Cherry”. Joseph H. Etheridge was the high bidder, at $700, and title transferred to him. Blount’s name is spelled “Blunt” later in the document. It isn’t specified in the document what the judgement against Cherry was about, but perhaps more information about Blount is in other court records. Document is dated January 14, 1861.
