“Bond”. This may actually be part of NC.BER.MM.363.1, but it brings two new characters into the story. As I read the document, it states W.A. Ferguson sold David Taylor “negro man Ben, aged about 30”, but Ben actually was owned by W.A.’s son William. The document also states that W.A. Ferguson owes David Taylor $3000, with John H. Lee as surety. In this “Bond”, W.A. Ferguson says that he will pay “all damages and cost” if William Ferguson or anyone else sues about the sale of Ben, and Taylor will be “held harmless”. Sounds like there is more to the story. Signed and presented in Court December 15, 1862.
