Bill of Sale. Charles Haughton of Chowan sells “one Negro Boy called George” to “George Outlaw, Executor of George Outlaw” for $175. No further information about the enslaved George and his relationships, and I am going to place him in Bertie rather than Chowan . I’m going to interpret “George Outlaw, Executor of George Outlaw” to mean that the deceased older George Outlaw is Jock’s new owner. The document was signed March 14, 1795 and presented in Court February 1796. See NC.BER.R.41.1 for a related transaction.
